Can I play sports or participate in clubs?
Posted by:Yes! You can play sports and be an online student. Students who play sports at their "home school" will be required to sign an athletic contract and be held to the same student athlete eligibility guidelines as students in a traditional building. Please speak to our online counselor or administration for more details.
Students can participate in most competitive clubs and activities at their "home school". If you have questions about a particular one, please reach out to our counselor or administrative team.

What are the expectations for an online student?
Posted by:Students in grades 6-12 are expected to work 5.5 hours per day for a total of 28 hours per week. The majority of our classes are on the learning platform Edgenuity. When you join AO, you have a Written Student Learning Plan (WSLP) that outlines your classes for the year. Students are required:
- Make progress in their classes, following their personalized timeline.
- Attend and participate in homeroom (online) 3 times a week for grades 6-8 and 2 times a week for grades 9-12.
- Engage in 2-way weekly academic contact with their teachers. (Talking about school and school work)
- Participate in Monthly Progress Reviews (MPRs) with their teachers once a month.
Auburn Online is a choice program. Students who continually do not make progress in their classes, do not attend and/or participate in homeroom, or who have not had any contact with the school or their teacher for 20 consecutive days, may be unenrolled and transferred back to their “home” school. Students will be checked out a district-issued Chromebook to access their online classes if they do not already have one checked out to them.
